At the closing of the school on Mt. Paran Road in 1921, there were 67 students enrolled. Many of them from the Newtown community, as there were other schools opened in the Elkton community for African Americans. The opening of the East Elkton (Newtown) school in 1921 combined all the African American schools in the Elkton community.
